HOW WE IMPACT RETENTION AND GRADUATION RATES
The Office of Tutoring & Learning Support Services (TLSS) richly enhances the academic experiences of Howard University students by offering free peer tutoring services for all gateway mathematics courses and selected general education courses. TLSS provides Howard students with access to one-on-one tutoring or small group tutoring sessions for the following subjects:
ALL LEVELS- Algebra, Biology, Calculus, Computer Science, Chemistry, Economics, Physics, Proofs & Problem Solving, Statistics, and more!
Additionally, TLSS provides student success workshops designed to support student development for academic success.
We also provide preparation workshops for integral exams that have a direct impact on retention, graduation rates, and job placement.
TLSS provides stellar tutoring services and academic support programs that cultivate independent learning, academic resiliency and enhances Howard University's retention and graduation rates.

Our Model of Service
Connect. TLSS consistently evaluates how to best connect with Howard students-to inform them of the academic support services TLSS provides-and how academic support positively impacts their academic success.
Train. TLSS' Bison Tutors are trained according to nationally-recognized standards for peer tutoring and are informed of best pedagogical practices that are specific to the academic needs of Howard students.
Coach. TLSS Bison Tutors are trained to academically coach their peers, equipping them with learning strategies that promote independent learning.
Support. TLSS serves as the academic student success resource center for Howard students. We are dedicated to providing hands-on and real-time academic support that helps assure Howard students are continuously moving upward and onward to academic success.
