CAE: Retention Counseling: An Overview

Student Success Counselors assist students assess their academic progress and develop plans for academic success. Targeted students include: university scholarship recipients, conditional admits, and students experiencing academic difficulty.

Student Success Counselors:

  • Are available to meet with any Howard University undergraduate student
  • Regularly monitor student data to identify potential academic challenges that could have an adverse effect on student success
  • Connect targeted students with specific academic support services
  • Help students identify and access university services that can help them meet their academic goals
  • Work collaboratively with professional and faculty advisers to provide comprehensive retention support
