10 Tips for Academic Success

  • ATTEND CLASS! Be prepared to actively participate.
  • Get to know your professors. Schedule an appointment to meet during their office hours. Discuss the course topic and how you are progressing.
  • Read ahead and work ahead. Do not fall behind. The semester moves very quickly and it is very difficult to catch up.
  • For a serious study group and hold each other accountable.
  • Establish regular study hours.
  • Utilize HU academic support services:
  • Know your academic strengths and where you are academically challenged. Used this information to develop a plan for developing your skills.
  • Check your HU EMAIL several times a day.
  • Practive healthy habits.
  • Pursue opportunities to enrich your academic experience. Consider honors courses, if you are eligible. PArticipate in an experiential learning program (study abroad, alternative spring break, first year experience programs).
